Legacy
Dr. Stephen A. Harrison was a visionary in MASH research, clinical trials, and patient advocacy, leaving an enduring impact on the field. His commitment to patient-centered drug development shaped how clinical research integrates patient perspectives.
Throughout his career, Dr. Harrison:
- Played a pivotal role in advancing MASH clinical trials and therapeutic development.
- Championed patient engagement in research and regulatory discussions.
- Collaborated closely with leading stakeholders, including industry, policymakers, and advocacy groups, to push forward solutions that directly benefit patients.
This fellowship was established to honor his extraordinary contributions by equipping the next generation of patient advocates with the knowledge and platforms needed to continue his mission of ensuring that patients remain at the center of innovation in liver disease care.
In summer 2025, FLF collaborated with Madrigal Pharmaceuticals and STAT Brand Studio on an article and video that tell the story of the Fellowship’s launch, featuring reflections from Wayne Eskridge, Dr. Maru Rinella, and Dr. Rebecca Taub on their long-term collaboration with Dr. Harrison. The piece highlights the unique importance of patient advocacy in shaping the future of MASH research and care. The article and video can be viewed here: Empowering patients to shape the future of MASH care.
